Control Your Appetite

Labels: , ,

Why is it hard for so many of us to control our appetite? I for one love the sight, smell and taste of most foods. It's a constant struggle for so many people to limit their food intake to only what's necessary for survival. Following are some tips I have found to help curb my appetite and not make a glutton of myself.

  • Sit down and prepare a schedule of specific times you're going to eat each meal. The ideal schedule should consist of breakfast, lunch and dinner with a mid-morning and a mid-afternoon snack. It's important to establish a structured routine in order to discipline yourself.
  • Make a list of what types of food you will eat for each meal. My suggestion is to make a column for each meal and list different things to eat under each category. The type of food you list is really up to you. Obviously if your health conscious you'll want to choose foods that are healthy and low in fat.
  • The whole point of spacing out your meals is to avoid becoming too hungry and overindulging yourself. Most people over-eat when they're near starvation and end up eating more than they should in one sitting. Pace yourself and try to practice portion control with each meal. After a while you will have developed good eating to last you a lifetime.
  • Prepare a weekly menu to help you stay on course
  • Include fruits and vegetables in your menu for a healthy balance
  • Eat slowly and stop when your satisfied.
  • Don't eat until your full and miserable
